The Fort Campbell High School girls’ soccer team posted a 6-8 record in 2016, scoring 23 goals and allowing 45. The Falcons went 5-5 against 2nd Region teams and 1-3 in the 8th District. Coach Michele Ellis’ team ended its season with a first round 7-0 loss to Hopkinsville in the 8th District Tournament.

Coach Ellis will be charged with replacing four seniors from the 2016 team, including All 8th District goalkeeper, Kylie Blaszkowski, who had 4 shutouts for the Falcons. Fort Campbell will lean heavily on returning sophomore Kaitlyn Cervantes, whose 8 goals led the team. Joining Cervantes is 2nd leading scorer, senior Maddison Ruggles, who scored 7 goals and chipped in 4 assists to lead the team. Junior Jasmine Ward will again take the field for the Falcons, after being selected to the All 8th District team last season. Other returning starters include senior Jordan Hardy (2 goals, 2 assists), a player Coach Ellis expects to have a big season, senior Kariahhna Gamblin (2 assists), and junior Jalene Lille (3 goals.) Ellis says she’s also excited about a couple of freshmen, Emmie Ellis and Regan Oakley. The Lady Falcons welcome three new players to the program and Ellis hopes they can step up right away. Arianna Shorter, Hannah Salas and Angel Manalang join the fold, with Salas and Manalang vying for the goalkeeper position.

The Lady Falcons will travel to the 4th Region’s Logan County Lady Cougars on August 14th to open the season. FCHS will be looking to avenge a close 1-0 loss to the Lady Cougars in its second game last season. The Lady Falcons are not scheduled to play in any regular season tournaments in the upcoming season.
