Trigg County will not play a football bowl doubleheader on August 25, but instead will play a single game. TCHS Principal Shannon Burcham told YourSportsEdge.com that a lack of sponsorship for the doubleheader forced the change in schedule.
Trigg County will play McLean County Friday, Aug. 25 at 7pm. It will be the first game between the schools since 2000. The Wildcats lead the series 3-1.
Fort Campbell and Russellville were scheduled to play the opener of Trigg’s bowl game. That game will be played at Russellville that night with the return game at Fort Campbell in 2018.
Trigg County began the bowl game in 2001 as a fundraiser for Wildcat athletics. The games have featured three Mr. Footballs through the years – Hopkinsville’s Curtis Pulley, Male’s Michael Bush, and Alcoa, Tennessee’s Randall Cobb.
