Lyon County’s Gabe Board and Livingston Central’s Cameron Head were named American Legion Post 68 Players of the Year at the team’s annual banquet Sunday.
Board, who will be a junior at Lyon County, hit. 370 for the junior team and was second on the squad with 30 hits and had a team-high 28 RBIs in helping the junior team repeat as American Legion state champs.
Head, who will be a junior at Livingston Central, led the team with a .534 batting average and 31 hits. He was third on the team with 19 RBIs. Head was dominant on the mound, going 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 24 innings.
Both Head and Board were starters on the senior squad as well.
The American Legion Post 68 junior team went 22-1 and became the first post to win consecutive junior state titles.
The senior team was 16-2 and lost to Shelbyville in the state championship game in Owensboro.
