Caldwell County and Henderson County are tied atop the preseason Second Region Volleyball Rankings released by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.
Caldwell County went 28-10 last year on their way to the Second Region All-A title. The Lady Tigers advanced to the Second Region championship match where they lost to Henderson County (29-10) in three sets.
Madisonville (25-13) was ranked third in the poll. The Lady Maroons lost to Caldwell County in the Seventh District title game and was ousted by Henderson County in the second round of the region tournament last year.
Christian County and Hopkinsville were both tied for fourth in the preseason poll. Christian County (17-16) must replace three starters from last year’s team, while Hopkinsville (16-18) is considered by some to be a region dark horse this year.
Assumption is the preseason number one team in the state followed by Sacred Heart and Mercy. There are no Second Region teams ranked in the top 25 by the KVCA.
