Trigg County and Caldwell County met over the summer at the Murray State team camp. Caldwell won 2-1. Both teams open their season tonight in Cadiz.
Trigg County will look to end a long losing streak against Caldwell County when the two schools open the 2017 girls’ soccer season tonight at the Complex. Both teams have several key starters returning from last year’s squads that went in different directions in the postseason. Caldwell County went 13-10-1 and won the Seventh District title a year ago, while Trigg County put together a 10-10 record and was upset in the first round of the Fifth District Tournament by Lyon County.
Caldwell County won last year’s opener 4-0 and have won 18 of the 19 career meetings. The 2012 game ended in a tie, which is the closest Trigg County has come to beating the Lady Tigers on the pitch.
The early schedule for Trigg County represents a tough haul for the Lady Wildcats, who play at defending region champion Henderson County Tuesday and host Hopkinsville next Tuesday.
Caldwell County will host Lyon County Tuesday and will host University Heights Saturday in the All-A Classic Region Tournament.
