Meridan Giannini recorded a hat trick as Caldwell County kept the pressure on Trigg County throughout in a 7-2 win over the Lady Wildcats in Cadiz.
Caldwell scored three goals in a nine minute stretch of the first half to take control of the contest. Giannini’s first goal was sandwiched between scores by Allissa Traylor and Kaylee McEnaney.
Madisen Ireland notched Trigg County’s first goal of the game early in the second half to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Laney Fletcher and Giannini scored twice in a four minute stretch to extend the Caldwell lead to 5-1. After Lucy Goffinet scored with ten minutes left, Giannini completed her hat trick. Taely Freeman assisted on a pair of Caldwell goals.
Libby Redd scored Trigg’s other goal off an assist from Alyssa Richardson with less than two minutes left.
Caldwell outshot Trigg 27-5 in the contest and improved to 19-0-1 all-time against the Lady Wildcats.
Caldwell County will host Lyon County Tuesday, while Trigg County travels to Henderson County.
