The 12th and 13th ranked teams in the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region girls’ soccer rankings faced off Tuesday night at Butler Stadium with a berth in the All “A” Regional Championship on the line. Lyon County (13) (1-3) claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Crittenden County Lady Rockets (12) (0-2) and will now try to deny the UHA Lady Blazers bid to repeat as All “A” Regional Champs.
Lyon took the lead early in the first half on an own-goal created by miscommunication between a Lady Rocket defender and senior goalkeeper Bailey Barns. Just before the halftime whistle, Crittenden scored its first goal of the season to tie things up going into the break. The score held, until freshman Destiny Dycus broke the deadlock, giving Lyon its first win of the young season and sending them into the final on Thursday.
