The Todd County Central girls’ soccer team (2-0-1) beat Christian County (1-2) 3-0 Thursday night, the Lady Rebels’ second consecutive shutout.  The Lady Colonels, ranked 11th in YourSportsEdge.com’s most recent 2nd Region rankings, were looking for their second win in as many games, but were sunk by a hat trick from junior forward Maddye Drummond.

Most of the first half was played in Christian County’s defensive third, but it took 22 minutes for the Lady Rebels to break through.  Drummond’s first goal came after a scramble in front of the Lady Colonels’ net, and the second came seven minutes later off of a beautiful solo run, beating three defenders and calmly rolling the ball into the corner of the goal.  Christian County turned up the pressure in the last 10 minutes of the 1st half, but were unable to cut into the lead.

The second half began as the first ended, with the Lady Colonels pushing forward.  As the half wore on, the teams settled into a back and forth contest, but didn’t create many good scoring chances.  With less than two minutes remaining, Drummond added her third of the night, putting the game out of reach for good.

Next up for Todd County Central is an All “A” matchup with Clinton County (0-3) on Saturday, while the Lady Colonels host the Union County Bravettes (3-0) the same day.
