Holmes, Shelton Take Medalist Honors in Tri-match

The one-two punch of Carson Holmes and John Buchanan once again carried the Christian County golf team to a win Monday, bettering Hopkinsville by three shots in a tri-match at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

Holmes took medalist honors with a score of 32, while Buchanan shot a 34. The Colonels also got strong rounds from Houston George (43) and Micah Smith (47) for a team score of 156.

Hopkinsville’s James Folz finished third by shooting a 35. He was followed by Cole Taylor’s 39, Edward Lee Major’s 40, and a 45 by Dalton Bearns. Hoptown’s team score was 159.

Muhlenberg County, led by a 40 from Camden Harris, had a team score of 176.

For the ladies, Hopkinsville’s Caitlyn Shelton shot a 41 to earn medalist honors on the day. Christian County’s Hannah Sumner and Caldwell County’s Campbell Knoth each shot a 44 to finish tied for second place. UHA’s Rheagan Lindsey and Christian County’s Bridget Owens each shot a score of 49.

Jenna Humphries added a 52 for Christian County, while Ellie Coburn had a 68 for Hopkinsville.
