Todd County Central has named Travis Lovan their new girls’ basketball coach. Lovan, who was most recently an assistant coach to Taylor Sparks at University Heights Academy, was hired Monday night.
Lovan was a key member of Christian County’s Sweet 16 basketball team in 1991 and has been an assistant basketball coach in Christian County for several years. He replaces Steven McGhee, who was 23-61 in three seasons as Lady Rebel head coach. Todd County Athletic Director Marnie Broady said McGhee was hired as an assistant boys’ basketball coach at Russellville.
Todd County Central has several key players returning from last year’s team that went 6-23. The Lady Rebels haven’t advanced to the Fourth Region Tournament since 2013.
