Alyssa Richardson continued her torrid scoring pace for Trigg County, scoring five goals and assisting on two others in their 10-2 district win over Crittenden County Monday at the Complex. The teams were scoreless for the first nine minutes until a Crittenden player received a red card which put the Lady Rockets down a player the rest of the match.
Richardson scored her first goal at the 15:00 mark off the first of three Brittney Kelly assists of the night. Six minutes later, Richardson scored again off a 30-yard free kick that found the left side of the net.
Crittenden County’s Ashley Wheeler scored off two penalty kicks in the contest. The first came with six minutes left in the game to pull to within 2-1. Trigg scored twice in the final three minutes of the half. Emily Noffsinger booted in a pass from Richardson for a 3-1 advantage, and Libby Redd scored from the left side right before halftime for a 4-1 lead.
Trigg County put the game away with four goals in a six minute stretch as Crittenden had trouble clearing the ball from the Trigg end of the field. Richardson and Madisen Ireland scored two goals during the stretch for an 8-1 lead.
After Wheeler added her second penalty kick, Richardson and Ann Marie McAtee finished off the Trigg scoring.
The defense back line of McAtee, Isabella Alexander, Tiffany Shafer, and Harley Wiggins recorded their second shutout in as many games with both of Crittenden’s goals coming off penalty kicks.
Coupled with Trigg County’s shutout of Paducah Tilghman Saturday, Trigg County has scored 10 goals in consecutive games for the first time in three seasons.
Trigg County (2-3) will travel to Union County Tuesday.
