The Webster County boys’ soccer team, ranked 4th in the YourSportsEdge.com Secoond Region boys’ soccer rankings, made the long trip to Trigg County Thursday and came away with a 5-0 victory. The win is the Trojans’ third straight since their only loss of the season to 3rd ranked Madisonville-North Hopkins (4-1).
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead into halftime and added their 3rd in the first few minutes of the second half. They would add 2 more midway through the half for the final 5-0 margin, the second time the Wildcats, ranked 7th, have been shutout this season. The Trojans’ goalscorers were juniors Erick Escalante (2), Jorge Martinez (2), and Oscar Velasquez. Junior Sean Mulhiville added an assist.
Webster County will face another 5th District team September 1st when they host Lyon County (3-3). Trigg County travel to the Stadium of Champions September 5th to face the 10th ranked Christian County Colonels (1-1-3).
