Here are your YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region boys’ soccer rankings for the week ending September 3rd.

1. Hopkinsville Tigers (4-0)

No change at the top of the rankings as the Tigers remain undefeated coming off a 3-0 win at Owensboro (1-4) and a convincing 8-2 home win against 3rd ranked Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-2).  The Tigers will face 10th ranked 8th District rival Christian County on Thursday and then host the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic this weekend.

2.  Henderson County Colonels (6-1)

The Colonels remain 2nd this week, after an easy 11-1 mercy rule win over 12th ranked Union County (0-5) and a 6-0 win over Ohio County (5-2).  Henderson travels to 4th ranked Webster County (5-1) for a 6th District match-up on Tuesday.

3.  Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons (4-2)

The Maroons lost twice last week, but the nature of the competition doesn’t merit a drop in the rankings.  Madisonville lost 8-2 at top ranked Hoptown and then dropped a 2-1 contest to Marshall County (5-2).  Madisonville only plays one match this week, at home against 1-4 Owensboro.

4.  Webster County Trojans (5-1)

The Trojans took care of business last week, beating 0-5 Ballard Memorial 6-1 and traveling to 5th ranked Trigg County (3-3) and breezing to a 5-0 win.  Webster has three matches against 2nd Region competition coming up this week, hosting 2nd ranked Henderson (6-1) in a 6th District tilt, then welcoming 9th ranked UHA (1-2), and another match-up with 5th ranked Trigg County (3-3) at the Muhlenberg County Classic on Friday.

5.  Trigg County Wildcats (3-3)

Trigg started the week with a bang in a big 4-2 win at 5th District rival and 6th ranked Lyon County (3-3), enough to move the Wildcats up to 5th from 7th.  However, later in the week the Wildcats slumped to a 5-0 defeat at home against 4th ranked Webster County (5-1).  This week Trigg faces the resurgent Christian County Colonels (1-2-3) at the Stadium of Champions and then get a second shot at Webster County at the Muhlenberg County Classic on Friday.

6.  Lyon County Lyons (3-3)

Lyon’s only match last week was a home loss to 5th ranked Trigg County (3-3), dropping the Lyons from 5th to 6th.  Lyon doesn’t play any matches against 2nd Region competition this week, facing 1-3 Muhlenberg County at home and winless Ballard Memorial on the road.

7.  Fort Campbell Falcons (1-3)

The Falcons didn’t play last week, but dropped a spot due to some movement above them.  Fort Campbell won’t have a chance for much movement this week either, as their only match is on post against Marshall County (5-2).

8.  Caldwell County Tigers (3-2-1)

The Tigers stay at 8th, with their only match last week being a 3-2 win at St Mary (2-5-2).  Caldwell has another week on tap with only one match, when they host the 3-1 Calloway County Lakers.

9.  University Heights Academy (1-2)

The Blazers haven’t played since an August 19th 5-3 loss to Caldwell County (3-2-1), but will get back to work with a trip to 4th ranked Webster County (5-1) followed by an away match with Owensboro Catholic (1-4-2).

10.  Christian County Colonels (1-2-3)

The Colonels hold at 10th after a week that saw them draw 2-2 with St Mary (2-5-2), their third in as many games.  The Colonels did pick up a nice 4-2 win over the visiting 11th ranked Hopkins County Central Storm (2-4-1), but then fell 3-0 to Graves County (2-3) to close out the week.  The Colonels have a great chance to move up in the rankings when they host 5th ranked Trigg County (3-3) to start the week before squaring off with top ranked Hopkinsville (4-0) on Thursday.  The Colonels busy week concludes with participation in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic at the Stadium of Champions this weekend.

11.  Hopkins County Central Storm (2-4-1)

The Storm find themselves ranked 11th again, coming off a week that began with a 5-2 home win over a Butler County (4-3) team that had beaten them soundly earlier in the season.  The Storm then suffered a 4-2 loss at 10th ranked Christian County (1-2-3), followed by a road draw with Owensboro Catholic (1-4-2).  This week Hopkins Central hosts 12th ranked Union County (0-5).

12.  Union County Braves (0-5)

Union County remains last in the rankings this week after an 11-1 loss to 2nd ranked Henderson County (6-1) and an 8-0 setback at Muhlenberg County (1-3).  After a home match with Apollo (4-2) to start the week, the Braves travel to Morton’s Gap looking for their first win and a chance to move up in the rankings against 11th ranked Hopkins County Central (2-4-1).
