9-5-strader

Lilly Strader, seen here in the All-A Classic Region Tournament, scored her 100th career goal Tuesday.

University Heights Academy junior Lilly Strader joined some rare company in Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Ohio County.  Strader scored one goal, giving her 100 for her career. She scored 35 goals as a freshman and 53 more as a sophomore. The 12th goal of her junior year allowed her to hit triple digits for her career.

Alli Cundiff had two goals, while Sheldon Covington also had a goal for the Lady Blazers, who improved to 5-0. Strader and Kate Cansler each had an assist.

Ohio County (5-3), which came into the game averaging over four goals a game, was shut down by the strong Lady Blazer defense that has allowed just five goals in five games.

Strader’s 100 career goals ranks her ninth among Second Region players all-time. She has a good chance to catch Caldwell County’s Savannah Pepper (103), Hopkinsville’s Abigayle Curtis (105), Lyon County’s Jill P’Poole (119), and Caldwell County’s Maura Hughes (127) this year.

Hopkinsville’s Lexie Bozell is the career scoring leader in the region with 163 goals, followed by her teammate Bennett Peck (153), Hoptown’s Kelsey Humphries (141), and Trigg County’s Lauren Frazier (140).

UHA also won the JV game 3-1 as Kate Cansler scored twice, and Grace Pape scored once.

The Lady Blazers host unbeaten Bowling Green (6-0) Thursday. The Lady Purples have outscored their opponents 40-1 in their first six games of the season.
