For the second consecutive contest, former Hopkinsville Tiger Austin Moore found the net for the Kentucky Wesleyan College soccer team. KWC played to a 1-1 draw with Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday night. With the draw, the Panthers move to 0-1-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in conference play while the Trojans fall to 0-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the G-MAC.
Austin Moore broke the scoreless game in the 80th minute, taking advantage of a scramble in front of the net. KWC’s Greg Melvin was able to fire off a shot that was blocked and Moore tabbed a shot of his own that was also blocked. Third time was the charm as Moore put the ball away to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. That lead was short lived as just 26 seconds later Trevecca netted a goal of their own to tie the game at one.
In the twenty minutes of extra time, the Trojans held a slight advantage in shots, 3-2. Neither team was able to get a shot on goal.
The Panthers will have the next eight days off as their next game isn’t until Sept. 14 when they host Cedarville at 8 pm. Kentucky Wesleyan will also host Ohio Valley on Sept. 16.
