Freshman Ryan Trapnell recorded a hat trick for HCA in their 5-4 loss to Highland Latin
Freshman Ryan Trapnell recorded his first hat trick of the season, but Heritage Christian Academy fell just short in a 5-4 soccer loss Friday at Highland Latin School in Louisville.
Trapnell staked the Warriors to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but the Highlanders evened the score at 2-2 by halftime.
Trapnell and Thomas West both had second half goals, but it wasn’t enough as the fifth ranked Highlanders held off HCA for the win.
“We just had too many defensive mistakes to hold them off,” Tony Henson said. “Our offense has finally started to click, and the two just can’t seem to get on the same page. We are moving the ball really well and communicating better than we have all year. We just have to fix all of the little things that we are doing wrong on the defensive side of the ball. This defense has the talent to play with any team in the KCAA, but they just don’t have a lot of time playing together. It will continue to get better as we get closer to the playoffs and hopefully we will have some surprises for the teams we played early in the year.”
Heritage Christian is ranked sixth in the latest KCAA Power Poll and will host top ranked Somerset Christian Friday.
