University Heights Academy continues to round into shape after a three week hiatus at the start of the month. The Lady Blazers are 3-3 since returning from their break and have won at least two sets in five of the six matches.
UHA made quick work of Fort Campbell Thursday, winning 25-12, 25-16, 25-9 at Blazer Gym. UHA used strong serving runs in each set to extend their lead over Fort Campbell and take control of the match.
Fort Campbell scored the first four points of the match before UHA rallied to take a 7-6 lead. Following a side out, Naliscya Hall served 10 straight points, which included three aces and kills by Lily Hendricks and Katie Beth Stevens. Hendricks, who has been moved to outside hitter after starting the season at setter, had two more kills in the set and finished with eight in the match.
In the second set, Fort Campbell again grabbed an early lead before another UHA run meant controlling the set. Up 14-13, UHA ran off eight of the next ten points with Hendricks and Aisha Pantiere each recording a pair of kills.
In the third set, freshman Beth Peebles served the first 14 points of the set, which included a pair of aces. Pantiere had three kills in the set, and Hall added two kills. For the match, Pantiere had seven kills, and Stevens had four.
Peebles, a freshman, was inserted at the lone setter spot when Hendricks moved to outside hitter and did a good job of setting up the bigs at the net.
Fort Campbell got two kills from Taeler Doyle and five aces from Alexis Lillard.
UHA improves to 6-5 on the season and 3-1 in the district, keeping their chances alive for the top seed in the district. They will play at Madisonville Tuesday.
Fort Campbell dropped to 2-18 with the loss and will play at Clarksville Northeast Monday.
