Here are this week’s Second Region Soccer Rankings, as determined by YourSportsEdge.com
1) Henderson County (13-9) – The Lady Colonels found the going tough at the Kentucky Challenge in Lexington, dropping four of five matches against quality opposition. Henderson remains 5-0 against region teams and will play in Louisville this weekend.
2) Caldwell County (15-8) – Caldwell County dropped back-to-back matches against two good teams – Apollo and Massac County, Ill. Like Henderson, the Lady Tigers are unbeaten against region schools and will play at #4 Hopkinsville Thursday.
3) Madisonville (12-4) – The Lady Maroons dropped a four-set match to #2 Caldwell County and came away with a five-set win against #6 University Heights. Madisonville will be among several region teams playing in Paducah this weekend.
4) Hopkinsville (8-7) – The Lady Tigers have won six of eight, although they dropped a five-set district match to #7 Christian County. Hopkinsville will play in the Jefferson County Invitational Tournament this weekend.
5) Webster County (11-6) – The Lady Trojans dropped a four-set match against #3 Madisonville and picked up wins over #11 Crittenden County and #13 Union County. Webster will play in the Quad State Tournament in Paducah this weekend.
6) University Heights (6-6) – The Lady Blazers are starting hit their stride despite five-set losses to #3 Madisonville and #5 Webster County. UHA will play #7 Christian County in a huge district match Thursday and play in the Quad State Tournament in Paducah this weekend.
7) Christian County (8-14) – Christian County has won three straight, including a five-set thriller over crosstown rival Hopkinsville. They play #6 UHA in another district tile Thursday before playing in the Hancock Tournament this weekend.
8) Livingston Central (16-5) – The Lady Cardinals saw their 10-match winning streak end at Graves County. Only five of those wins came against Second Region schools. Livingston will play two of their final three regular season matches against First Region schools.
9) Hopkins County Central (10-6) – The Lady Storm have won seven of eight matches, with their only loss to #2 Caldwell County. They can jump up in the rankings with a win over #3 Madisonville Thursday and a strong showing at the Quad State Tourney in Paducah this weekend.
10) Trigg County (6-8) – Trigg County may be showing signs of life as the regular season winds down. The Lady Wildcats played #4 Hopkinsville tough, losing in four sets and beat a decent Paducah Tilghman team. Their play in those two matches justify jumping Crittenden County in the rankings. They too play in the Quad State Tournament in Paducah this weekend.
11) Crittenden County (3-11) – Crittenden has dropped four straight matches, although they took #9 Hopkins County Central to five sets and took a set from #6 University Heights Academy.
12) Fort Campbell (3-19) – The Lady Falcons picked up a win over Clarksville Northwest Monday, and host Todd County Central Thursday.
13) Union County (3-17) – Union County has lost 13 straight matches and have not won a set in any of those. They and Fort Campbell are the only two teams to not beat a Second Region team this year.
