Noel Ties State Record in Hoptown Win at Trigg County

Hopkinsville senior Ethan Noel tied a state record in Hopkinsville’s 8-0 win at Trigg County Tuesday. Noel assisted on two goals that gives him 107 for his career, equaling the mark set by North Hardin’s Micah Linscott from 2013-16. Noel can break the record Thursday when the Tigers play at Graves County.

Against Trigg County, Hoptown scored four goals in the first seven minutes to take control of the contest early. Ryan Roussel scored on a penalty kick three minutes in and added a goal off an assist from Tyler Aldridge two minutes later. Caleb Joiner scored twice, with Braden Casey and Zach Moore each adding goals for a 6-0 halftime lead.
Joiner and Newcomb Maddux scored the second half goals for the Tigers (13-4).

Trigg County, playing without four starters, managed one shot on goal in each half. Two starters are lost for the season due to injury and a third is out two games due to a red card.

The regular season is over for the Wildcats, who will play Lyon County in the district championship game next week. Head Coach Josh Nichols, who missed the last three games due to a red card received in the loss to Caldwell County Sept. 26, will be back on the sidelines for the postseason. Trigg County dropped to 6-13 with their seventh straight loss.
