Atkins Brings Home Top 20 Finish

Hopkinsville’s Chase Atkins finished 20th at the Fast Cats Invitational Saturday in Owensboro. Atkins covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17:24. Zlatko Skuljan was 169th, followed by Max DuBois (263rd), and Jamarius McKnight (296th).

Daviess County’s Hunter Kurz won the race in a time of 16:17, just ahead of Covington Catholic’s 16:24.
Covington Catholic won the team title with 44 points, followed by Montgomery Bell Academy (68) and Marshall County (135). There were 344 runners in the boys’ varsity race.

Meghan Easton finished 44th in a time of 21:59, followed by Allison Wood in 51st place. Cherish Higgs was 98th, followed by Anna Lee (178th), and Jakayla McSwain (223rd). Hopkinsville finished 18th as a team with 438 points.
Anderson County junior Maddy Moody won the race in a time of 18:55, which was 16 seconds ahead of second place finisher Breanna Alderton of Owensboro.

In the team competition, Daviess County had five runners in the top eight to win with 18 points. North Oldham finished second, and Harpeth Hall finished third. There were 230 runners in the girls’ varsity race.
