Falcons Run Well at Fast Cats Invitational

Fort Campbell brought home respectable finishes at one of the largest cross country meets in the state – the Fast Cats Invitational in Owensboro Saturday.

In the boys’ varsity race, Gabe Gamez finished in 119th place in a time of 19:20. Damian Bowe was 146th, followed by Rafael Cerritos (148th), Andrew Sincere (189th), Alec Vaughn (208th) and Joshua Ricketts (211th). Fort Campbell was 20th as a team.

Daviess County’s Hunter Kurz won the race in a time of 16:17, just ahead of Covington Catholic’s 16:24.

Covington Catholic won the team title with 44 points, followed by Montgomery Bell Academy (68) and Marshall County (135). There were 344 runners in the boys’ varsity race.

Maddy Ruggles led the Fort Campbell girls across the finish line in 118th place, followed by Noemi Cerritos (158th), Alexandra Zacherl (184th), and Jordan Hardy (186th).

Anderson County junior Maddy Moody won the race in a time of 18:55, which was 16 seconds ahead of second place finisher Breanna Alderton of Owensboro.

In the team competition, Daviess County had five runners in the top eight to win with 18 points. North Oldham finished second, and Harpeth Hall finished third. There were 230 runners in the girls’ varsity race.

Joslynn Espinoza finished 24th for Fort Campbell in the middle school girls’ race in a time of 13:51 over the 3000 meter course, while Jacob Gamez finished 49th in the boys’ varsity race.
