The Henderson County Lady Colonels proved to be too much for the Lyon County Lady Lyons in the first game of the Girls 2nd Region Soccer Tournament Monday night. Henderson scored early and often on their way to a 12-0 win. The contest was called at the end of the first half.
Henderson scored two goals in the first four minutes to take an early 2-0 lead. Lyon County then got their best chance to score on a penalty kick by Mia Myers, but the Henderson goalie was able to cover the shot and the landslide began.
The Lady Colonels led 6-0 at the halfway point of the first half, and then added six more over the final 20 minutes, the last coming with 2 seconds to go in the match.
Henderson County played most of the half in their offensive end of the field. The Lady Colonels were led by Hannah Jones and Maddie Griggs, with each getting a hat trick.
Lyon County ends the season with a record of 7-13-2. Henderson advances to Tuesday night’s semifinals to take on University Heights Academy.
