Heritage Christian Academy could not overcome a slow start and fell to Trinity Christian 5-0 in the first round of the KCAA State Tournament in Lexington Tuesday.

Warriors Coach Tony Henson said Trinity converted a penalty kick two minutes into the contest, and HCA could not overcome it.

“When we finally realized we could play with them, we really gave them all they wanted,” Henson said.
The Warriors finish the season with a record of 5-11-1 and will lose seniors Kameron Cunningham, Clay Bonner, and Gillian Taylor to graduation.

“This team has a lot to be proud of this year. It should be an exciting season next year as some of these younger kids step into leadership roles,” Henson said.

Trinity, the tournament’s second seed, will advance to play three-seed Assumption, a 5-1 winner over six-seed North Hardin. The other quarterfinal saw fourth seed Highlands edge five-seed Cornerstone 5-3. Highlands will play top seed Somerset, who received a first round bye.
