Falcons Take Second at Region I Cross Country Meet

Maddison Ruggles qualified for next week’s state cross country meet

The Fort Campbell boys’ cross country team finished 2nd at the 2A 1st Region Meet, posting a total time of 1:35:52.83 and an average time of 19:10.57.  As a result, all 7 Falcon boys runners will compete in the state meet.  On the girls’ side, senior Maddison Ruggles will be the lone girl on the Falcons’ bus to state, posting a time of 22:30.09 for a 6th place finish.

The boys’ team all performed well, with sophomore Rafael Cerritos’ 9th place finish (18:43.64) leading the way.  Freshman Andrew Sincere was 11th with a 18:48.09, junior Gabe Gamez came in 15th with a 19:16.03, with sophomore Joshua Ricketts only one spot behind with a time of 19:23.61.  Sophomores Alec Vaughn (19:41.46) and William DeShazo (19:43.36) were 21st and 22nd, with freshman Tyler Mickley finishing 29th at 19:59.51.

In addition to Ruggles’ 6th place finish, freshman Yasmin Espinoza (24th, 24:18.81), senior Jordan Hardy (26th, 24:30.98), senior Noemi Cerritos (29th, 24:51.60), senior Elizabeth Ryan (30th, 25:13.91), junior Hannah Salas (32nd, 26:23.10), and junior Sheree Pollock (37th, 35:23.39) all ran in the girls’ regional, but failed to qualify for the state meet.
