Caldwell County pitcher Ty Ramey is glad to have the recruiting process in his rearview mirror as he gets ready for his senior season on the diamond. Ramey signed with Frontier College of Fairfield Illinois Thursday in a ceremony at the school.
The 6-foot-6 right-hander complimented lefty Shane Burns nicely in the Caldwell County rotation last year, posting a 5-0 record with an ERA of 0.64. Ramey struck out 51 batters and allowed just 19 hits in 44 innings last year.
Ramey also caught and played first base for Caldwell County, but said he thinks he will primarily pitch for Frontier, a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association who competes in District 24 with schools such as Rend Lake and John Logan. Former Union County standouts Seth Cummings and Bo Robison played for Frontier last year.
