Heritage Christian Academy has shaken off a slow start to the basketball season as the Lady Warriors won three straight games to win the Highland Latin Tournament Saturday in Louisville.
HCA beat Oak Ridge Christian 39-26 in the championship game Saturday night as senior Rachel West scored a season-high 23 points for the Lady Warriors. West, who didn’t score in the first quarter, scored 10 points in the third quarter as HCA outscored Oak Ridge 15-6.
The Lady Warriors were blanked in the first quarter but battled back to take a 12-10 lead into halftime. They then outscored Oak Ridge 27-16 in the second half.
Chelsea Dortch notched her third straight double-digit scoring game with 14 points, and Hope Flournoy scored two points.
HCA knocked off Micah Christian 53-28 in the opener and beat defending KCAA state champion Trinity Christian in the semifinals.
The Lady Warriors (3-2) next play in the Micah Christian Holiday Classic Dec. 1 in Louisville.
