The UHA Blazers looked in mid-season form as they dispatched Muhlenberg County in a preseason scrimmage Tuesday night at Blazer Gym. While they reset the score at the end of each quarter, the Blazers outscored the Mustangs on the night 79-36.
UHA opened the evening fast, holding Muhlenberg County scoreless deep into the first quarter. The Blazers went on to win the quarter 21-4. UHA did not slow down much in the second period, outscoring the Mustangs 25-7, for a halftime margin of 46-11. At the break, it was already a big night for junior KyKy Tandy, who had 20-points in the first two periods.
In the 3rd quarter, the Blazers came out a little flat, and saw Muhlenberg County outscore them 16-11. UHA quickly turned that trend around, going to work on their press during the 4th quarter of the scrimmage, and outscoring the Mustangs 22-9.
For the night, KyKY Tandy led UHA with 34 points. K.J. Crump added 16, while Kwun Dorsey was the other Blazer in double figures with 10 points.
UHA will officially open the 2017-2018 season in the Marshall County Hoop Fest, taking on Graves County Friday, November 30.
