The Lyon County Lady Lyons improved to 2-0 on the season Friday night by holding off the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers 40-33 in Dawson Springs. While both teams had their offensive struggles, the Lady Lyons were able to keep Dawson Springs at just enough arms length to pick up the win.

The two teams battled through the first quarter, which ended up with Lyon County holding a one point lead at 13-12. The nip and tuck battle continued through the second quarter, as the two teams went into the locker room knotted up at 22.

Both teams struggled to find points in the 3rd quarter as Dawson Springs was held to a single free throw, while Lyon County could only manage four points of their own. In the 4th quarter, Lyon County had a couple of big three pointers from Allison Murphy and Hannah Holloman, and the defense held Dawson Springs to only two field goals, as Lyon County was finally able to inch their way out to the 40-33 final margin.

Lyon County was led by Alllison Murphy with 17 points and Hannah Holloman with 8. Dawson Springs’ top scorer was Brooklyn Cotton with 13. Kaylee Simpson added 8.

Lyon County will return to action Tuesday evening, on the road at Livingston Central in a 5th District matchup.
