12-9-gold

Christian County Lady Colonel coach Kiki Radford wanted to see how her team bounced back less than 24 hours after their first loss of the season Friday night at Bullitt East. Needless to say, she liked what she saw. Christian County forced 30 turnovers and came up with 18 steals in a 79-38 win over McCracken County at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.

Trinitee Jackson, coming off a 30-point, 10-rebound night Friday, got into early foul trouble Saturday. Radford went to a quicker lineup that saw Laderia Gold benefit with 10 first quarter points as the Lady Colonels built a 21-10 lead.

Kinara Phillips scored 10 points in the second quarter as Christian County outscored McCracken 34-13 to build a 55-23 halftime lead.

Christian County’s defense forced 18 turnovers in the first half and 30 for the game. Their defense came up with 18 steals, led by Aaliyah Hampton’s eight.

Gold knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 18 points. Hampton added 15 points and five assists to go with her eight steals. Jackson finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Phillips scored 14 points.
