A day after picking up their first win of the season, the Lyon County Lyons went on the road and were knocked off by the Dawson Springs Panthers 71-53. Offensive struggles for the Lyons down the stretch were the difference in the game.
Dawson Springs opened the game on a 10-2 run, only to see Lyon County battle back to the cut the lead to 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. Both teams geared their offense up in the second quarter. Dawson Springs outscored the Lyons in the second period 22-20 to take a 39-33 lead into the locker room.
Midway through the 3rd quarter, the Panthers began to get a little separation from the Lyons, pushing the lead out to double digits. Dawson would lead at the end of the quarter 57-47. In the 4th, the Panthers clamped down defensively and limited Lyon County to only six points, while scoring 14 of their own to put the game away.
Lyon County was led by Max Wadlington with 21, while Gabe Board added 18 points on the afternoon. The Panthers had four players reach double figures, led by Braxton Cotton with 16, and Justin Putman with 14.
The Lyons fall to 1-4 on the season, and now get ready for a Tuesday night 5th District matchup at Trigg County.
