After suffering their worst loss in three seasons Tuesday, Christian County bounced back with a 111-81 win over Russellville Friday in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Classic at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium. The 111 points was the most scored by a Colonel team since a 118-114 overtime win over Osceola, Florida in the 1999 Toyota Classic at Scott County.

Russellville led 28-24 after one quarter as the Panthers continually beat the press to get easy inside looks. Christian County’s Detorrion Ware then heated up and scored 18 of his game-high 39 points in the second quarter to help the Colonels take a 52-50 lead at halftime.

The Colonels continued their transition success in the third quarter, outscoring a tiring Panther squad 34-14 in the frame.

Damikeon Mathis scored nine of his 19 points in the third quarter, while Fred Tandy scored eight in the quarter. Shay Stowe scored 13 of his 15 points off the bench in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Anthony Woodard scored 25 points to lead Russellville (2-3).

Christian County (4-1) will play Mayfield Saturday at 5pm at UHA’s Blazer Gym in a battle of region runner-ups from last year.
