The Lyon County boys’ basketball team lost its fifth straight game on Tuesday night, falling to 1-8 on the year with a 71-28 road loss to McCracken County. The Mustangs held the Lyons to their lowest scoring output of the season.
The Mustangs put the game out of reach in the first quarter, outscoring the Lyons 20-4. Lyon County trailed 38-12 at the halftime break. The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, holding the Lyons to 2 points and stretching the lead to 54-14. McCracken cruised in from there for the final 71-28 score.
Senior forward Max Wadlington led the Lyons in scoring with 8, followed by freshman guard Kade Blackburn’s 7. Freshman guard Clay Haines scored 5, junior forward Gabe Defew had 4, and sophomores Bryson Penn and Justin Crawford had a bucket each.
The Lyons return to the court Friday, hosting the 5-3 Ballard Memorial Bombers.
