Months after leading Todd County Central’s football program to their first winning season since 1995, Les Broady has stepped down as head football coach. He was 6-15 in his two seasons as the Rebel skipper, but said he is ready to retire from teaching and coaching.

The Rebels were 0-10 in 2016 after he took over the coaching reins from Bryan Jones.

In 2017, Todd County began the season 4-0 for the first time in 43 years. A district win over Butler County sent them to the playoffs for only the second time in seven seasons where they lost to eventual state runner-up Mayfield in the first round.

Broady says the next coach will inherit a program that’s better than the one he got in 2016, citing a growing youth football program and feeder program for the varsity level. The Rebels only had five seniors on their roster at season’s end.
