The Lyon County Lady Lyons made it five wins in a row Friday as they beat the Mayfield Lady Cardinals 46-42 in their second game in the 1st Lady Warrior Shootout at Community Christian. The game was tightly contested from the opening tip until the final horn.

Both teams struggled getting into their offense early. Mayfield was able to get just enough done to take a 9-7 lead after the first quarter.

The defenses continued to rule the game in the second quarter. Behind the play of Lyndsey Looper, the Lady Cardinals were able to extend the lead to 18-15 by the end of the first half.

Allison Murphy and Hannah Holloman began to take things over in the 3rd quarter. Behind their play, the Lady Lyons came back and took the lead, ending the quarter in front 31-30.

The Lyon County defense then helped seal the win in the 4th quarter, as the Lady Lyons limited Mayfield to just two baskets from the field, both coming from behind the 3-point line. Lyon County was able to ice the game away, connecting on 5 of 6 free throws in the final quarter.

Allison Murphy was at the top of the scoring column for Lyon County with 15 points. A huge afternoon for Calista Collins, as the freshman had 11 points and 19 rebounds. Mayfield was led by Lyndsey Looper and Kyler Henson with 13 points each.

Lyon County improves to 7-2 on the season, and returns to action in 5th District play next Friday at Crittenden County.
