Led by top six finishes by Kolby Morris and Zlatko Skuljan, Hopkinsville finished 17th at the Woodford County Invitational Saturday.
Morris entered the week unranked in the 170-pound class statewide, according to KentuckyWrestling.com. He beat Emmanual Hernandez of Woodford County and Joseph Taylor of Anderson County in his first two matches. He lost to Vance Krueger of Ashland Blazer in the semifinals but rebounded to pin Noah Rhode of Lafayette. In his final match of the day, Morris lost to No. 22 Thomas Boone of LaRue County in the third place match.
Skuljan entered the week ranked No. 23 in the 152-pound class. He opened with a win over No. 16 Chase Fink of Anderson County and a pin of Scott County’s Luke Rollins in the second round. Skuljan dropped a 7-5 decision to Lafayette’s Kevin Vasquez, the No. 2 wrestler in the 152-pound class.
Skuljan finished sixth, dropping consolation matches to No. 4 Dalton Bell of LaRue County and No. 15 Griffin Dulak of John Hardin.
Hopkinsville will wrestle next weekend at Father Ryan, TN.
