It’s on to the All A Regional semifinals for the Caldwell County Tigers. The Tigers used a 26-4 run over the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half to roll past Crittenden County 57-33 Friday night at Rocket Arena.
Showing the effects of the extended layoff due to the wintery weather conditions, the Tigers were a bit slow coming out of the gate. Caldwell County, behind the trio of Derrin Boyd, Cayden Fraliex, and John Davis took a 13-7 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers battled through some early turnover issue and cool shooting to take the six point lead.
In the second quarter, the Tigers used back to back three point plays from Boyd and Fraliex to extend the lead to 23-12. The Rockets got a basket from Gabe Mott to cut the lead to 9, and then the bottom fell out for Crittenden County.
Caldwell County finished the second quarter on a 8-0 run to take a 31-14 lead at the half. The Tigers then opened the second quarter on an 18-4 run, and the game was effectively over at that point. Caldwell County would lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 49-21.
Both teams played reserves for a big portion of the final quarter, as the Tigers cruised the rest of the way for the final 24 point margin.
Derrin Boyd led the way for the victorious Tigers with 20 points, while Cayden Fraliex added 10. Jameer Riley added six points, and four impressive blocked shots for Caldwell County. Crittenden County was led by Sawyer Towery and Hunter Boone with six points each.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 8-8 on the season, and move on to the All A Regional semifinals, where they will take on Livingston Central Saturday night in Marion.
