Heritage Christian Academy could not sustain a solid first half and fell to Bethel Christian 64-53 Friday at Warrior Gym.

The Warriors led 19-14 after one quarter and 30-29 at halftime. But some untimely turnovers and cold shooting saw Bethel outscore HCA 17-13 in the third quarter and 18-10 in the fourth quarter. HCA finished with 16 turnovers in the contest.

Bethel Christian, located in Breckinridge County, kept HCA at bay by hitting 19-of-22 free throws in the game, including 11-of-13 in the fourth quarter. HCA was just 3-of-6 at the charity stripe.

Josh Ammons led Bethel Christian, ranked No. 7 in this week’s Kentucky Christian Athletic Association Poll, with 29 points.

Gavin Fowler knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 33 points for the Warriors. Dalton Folz scored 13 points, and Austin Crawford added 10 points.

Heritage Christian Academy, who is just outside the KCAA Top 10 in 11th place, fell to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in KCAA play. The Warriors are in third place in the First Region behind Oak Ridge (4-0) and Bethel (3-3).

HCA travels to Hendersonville, TN Monday and return home to host Oak Ridge next Friday.
