VIDEO – Lady Rebels Win All-A Opener

Todd County Central overcame a slow start Thursday to pick up their first win in the Fourth Region All-A Classic in six years. The Lady Rebels handed Cumberland County a 59-29 loss in Elkton and move on to Saturday’s semifinals.

Todd County fell behind early but rebounded to take an 11-6 lead after one quarter. The Lady Rebels doubled up the Panthers 20-10 in the second quarter as Jasmine Mimms and Amy Brumfield each scored six points in the quarter.

The Lady Rebels used their press defense to force 27 turnovers in the contest and outscored Cumberland County (0-18) 28-13 in the second half to quash any comeback attempt.

Ten different players scored for the Lady Rebels, with Tatyana Peterson leading the way with 11 points. Jordan Weathers came off the bench to score nine points, and Brumfield added eight points.

Todd County Central improved to 5-9 with the win, their third in their last four games. They will play Clinton County in the semifinals Saturday afternoon in Albany.
