Colonels Fade in Second Half in Loss to Castle

The Christian County boys’ basketball team made the long trip to Indiana to face Castle High School on Thursday night, falling 81-51 in a game that got away from them in the second half.  The Colonels have lost three of their last four to slip to 10-6 on the year.

Christian County started well, leading 13-12 after the first quarter, but only managed 8 second-quarter points and trailed 30-21 at the halftime break.  Junior forward Fred Tandy led the Colonels in scoring at the half with 7, followed by senior forward Detorrion Ware with 6.

The Colonels struggled to get stops in the second half, allowing 25 and 26 points in the third and fourth quarter, and were outscored 51-30 in the second half to lose 81-51.

Ware led the Colonels with 14 points, and Tandy finished with 11.  Senior guard Cory Trice and junior forward Eric Brody both scored 8, and senior forward Jaquon Long had 6.  Senior forward Kolbe Langhi and junior guard DT Babb rounded out the scoring with 2 each.

Alex Hemenway had a huge night for Castle with 34 points, followed by Jace Stieler with 15.  Trison Wilkinson and Zach Messinger both scored 12.

The Colonels may have been caught looking ahead, as they have an important 8th District match-up with crosstown rivals Hopkinsville (8-10) on Saturday.  The Colonels are 1-0 in district play and Hopkinsville stands at 2-1.
