The 2017 2nd Region Volleyball Player of the Year is now officially headed off to Owensboro to continue her career on the collegiate level. During an official signing ceremony Friday afternoon, Caldwell County senior Carlie Peek signed her letter of intent to attend Brescia University and play for the Lady Bearcats.
In addition to being named the 2nd Region Player of the Year, Peek was named to the 2017 KVCA 2nd Team All-State. She was a key player for the Caldwell County Lady Tigers, who won the 2nd Region All A volleyball title, and advanced to the 2nd Region championship game, where they lost to the Henderson County Lady Colonels.
Peek becomes the second area athlete to sign to play volleyball with Brescia over the past few weeks. Christian County’s Courtney Smith signed with the Lady Bearcats earlier this month.
Brescia finished the 2017 season at 22-13, losing to West Virginia Tech in the River States Conference Tournament.
