Shaking off the disappointment of their opening round loss at the All A Classic state tournament, the Lyon County Lady Lyons returned home and picked up a homecoming night win. While struggling offensively, the Lady Lyons defense and effort on the glass led them to a 38-32 win over the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers.
Both teams struggled offensively early in the contest. Lyon County took an 8-5 lead after the first quarter, only to see the Lady Panthers come back and take a 13-12 lead into the locker room. Both teams stuggled throughout the half to find any sort of offensive rhythm.
While their shooting continued to struggle, the Lady Lyons began to take advantage of their strength inside in the second half with Hannah Holloman and Allison Murphy. Lyon County took the lead back in the 3rd quarter, leading 25-21 at the end of the quarter. The Lady Lyons finished the game with strong rebounding and knocking down their free throws coming down the stretch to secure the six point win.
Holloman and Murphy again had big nights for the Lady Lyons. Muprhy had 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Holloman added 10 points and 18 rebounds. Brooklyn Cotton was the only Lady Panther to reach double figures with 11 points.
Lyon County improves to 13-6, while Dawon Springs falls to 5-15.
