The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team appears to be hitting its stride down the regular-season stretch, capping a four-game winning streak with a 46-35 road victory over Russellville on Friday night.  The Lady Rebels get back to .500 at 12-12, 5-1 in 13th District play, tying them with Logan County for the best record in the district.  The two teams split their season meetings, with Todd County losing on the road and winning at home.  The Lady Panthers see a two-game winning streak snapped, falling to 4-17, 2-4 in the district.

Russellville used a strong defensive effort to hold the Lady Rebels to 6 first-quarter points, and the Lady Panthers led 11-6 after eight minutes.  However, Todd County reversed the scoring in the second quarter, tying the game at 17 going into the halftime break.

Senior guard Alexis O’Daniel and junior guard Amy Brumfield scored 6 each to lead the Lady Rebels, while freshman guard Chloe Whitescarver had 5 for the Lady Panthers.

Todd County failed to score in double digits again in the third quarter, only putting 9 on the board, but only allowing 11 for Russellville.  The Lady Panthers took a slim, 28-26 advantage into the final quarter.

The Lady Rebels’ offense got rolling in the fourth quarter, posting 22 points and holding Russellville to only 7.  Brumfield closed the show with 10 points in the final period, leading Todd County to the 46-35 win.

Brumfield’s 21 points led the Lady Rebels, joined in double figures by O’Daniel with 14.  Senior guard Tatyana Peterson finished with 5, senior center Makayla Robertson scored 4, and freshman center Makayla Artis and junior guard Jasmine Mimms had a basket each.  For the Lady Panthers, 8th grade center Anastasia Dowlen led the way with 12, 8 in the second half.

The Lady Rebels will look to extend their winning streak on Monday, when they host the Butler County Lady Bears (5-16).
