Dawson Springs Hands Lady Blazers 7th Straight Loss

A tough end to the regular season Thursday night for the UHA Lady Blazers. Dawson Springs grabbed an early lead and then had to come from behind to defeat the Lady Blazers 42-39, sending UHA to its 7th straight loss.

The Lady Panthers defense limited UHA to only three field goals in the opening quarter, as Dawson Springs took a 12-6 lead. UHA’s defense returned the favor in the second quarter, holding the Lady Panthers to two field goals and two free throws, as the Lady Blazers cut the lead to 18-17 at the half.

The UHA defense again held Dawson Springs to below double digits in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Lady Panthers 12-9 to take a 29-27 lead going into the final quarter.

Down the stretch, Erin Orten took over the game, scoring 12 points in the final quarter, as the Lady Panthers rallied for the three point win.

Orten led the way for Dawson Springs with 15 points, while Brooklyn Cotton added 14. Anshanique Leavell was the only Lady Blazer to reach double figures with 18 points. Alex Juckett added 9 points for UHA.

The loss drops UHA to 8-16 on the season, while Dawson Springs improves to 10-18.
