Trigg County senior pitcher Ashton Plymale signed his letter to continue his academic and athletic career at Transylvania University in Lexington. Plymale made it official Friday at a ceremony at the high school.
The 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher posted a 4.71 ERA in 10 games last year for the Wildcats. He struck out 37 batters in 35 innings while walking just 16. Plymale also pitched in 10 games as a sophomore, posting a 3.23 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 21 innings.
Plymale will also become the first Trigg County baseball player to play in the Ohio Valley League, a summer wooden bat league for college baseball players. Plymale will pitch for the Fulton Railroaders.
Plymale plans to study biology and enter the health care field.
