The big question headed into the Girls 8th District tournament this week is whether or not anyone can come close to keeping the Christian County Lady Colonels from winning the championship. Kiki Radford’s team enters the tourney as the prohibitive favorite to enter the regional tournament as a district champion.

The tournament gets underway Monday evening at 6:00 at Christian County High School, as the top seeded Lady Colonels will take on the #4 seeded Fort Campbell Lady Falcons. To say it has been a long season for Fort Campbell would be an understatement. The Lady Falcons are 0-24, and their closest loss was 12 points to a Christian Fellowship team, whose only wins were there 3 wins against the Lady Falcons. In their two matchups this season, Christian County outscored Fort Campbell 137-15.

Tuesday evening at 6:00, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers will take on the UHA Lady Blazers. UHA has struggled coming down the stretch of the season, losing seven in a row, having not won a game since their semifinal win over Caldwell County in the Girls 2nd Region All A Classic. Hopkinsville won the two matchups during the season between the teams, by 36 and by 39 points. The Lady Tigers won four of their last six, losing only to Christian County and state title contender South Warren.

The girls championship game is set for Thursday night at 6:00pm.
