The Todd County Lady Rebels fell 63-25 to South Warren on Tuesday night in the 4th Region tournament at E.A. Diddle Arena on the campus of Western Kentucky University.  The loss ends the Lady Rebels’ season, dropping them to 14-15 on the year, while South Warren now stands at 30-3 and advances to the regional semifinals.

South Warren jumped out to an early lead, but a layup by junior guard Amy Brumfield pulled the Lady Rebels to within 10-7 with 3:15 to play in the opening quarter.  South Warren built its first double-digit lead at 19-9, before forcing three-straight Todd County turnovers to close the period on a 9-0 run and lead 28-9.

South Warren continued to stretch the lead in the second quarter, using four three pointers to outscore the Lady Rebels 21-10 and take a 49-19 lead into the halftime break.  Senior Alexis O’Daniel and freshman Makayla Artis had 5 points each to lead Todd County, while Natalie Pierce’s 20 paced South Warren, followed by Amaya Lasley with 10.

The South Warren offense slowed down after halftime, but the Lady Rebels were held scoreless in the third, and trailed 60-19 with one quarter to play.  Both teams subbed freely in the final eight minutes, only combining for 9 points for a 63-25 South Warren victory.

O’Daniel’s 7 led the Lady Rebels, followed by Artis with 5.  Brumfield and junior guard Paige Rager both finished with 4, with junior guard Jasmine Mimms scoring 3, and junior guard Kinley Reding adding a basket.  Pierce and Lasley did most of their damage in the first half for South Warren, finishing with 22 and 10, respectively.

Todd County finished 11-45 from the field for 24.4%, and 1-11 from three for 9.1%.  South Warren shot 26-63 for 41.3%, 7-22 from deep for 31.8%, and outrebounded the Lady Rebels 45-31.

Todd County’s 14 wins more than doubled last season’s 6, good enough for the program’s best record since the 2012/13 season, also the last time it appeared in the regional tournament.
