The Todd County Central Rebels beat the visiting Fort Campbell Falcons 7-1 in a scrimmage in Elkton on Tuesday night. The Rebels outhit the Falcons 9-8, with Fort Campbell striking out 7 times to Todd County’s 4.
The Rebels opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by senior center fielder Trevor Henderson. Fort Campbell tied things up in the top of the 3rd when 7th grader Dalton Markus doubled to drive in sophomore Tyler Mackay.
Todd County regained the lead in the bottom of the 4th, driving in 2 runs on a pair of singles to take a 3-1 advantage. The Rebels blew the game open in their half of the 5th, with junior 1B/C Pedro Gonzalez tripling to drive in 2, before senior center fielder McKinley Griggs and Henderson picked up RBI on two groundouts for the final 7-1 score.
Mackay led the Falcon offense, going 3-3, with Markus going 1-3 with an RBI. Henderson went 2-3 for the Rebels, driving in 3, followed by Gonzalez at 1-2 with 2 RBI
Fort Campbell will kickoff the regular season on Tuesday when they host 8th District rivals UHA. The Rebels also open at home, welcoming Hopkins County Central to Elkton on Monday.
