Trigg County finished sixth at the Kentucky State Powerlifting Meet Saturday at Central Hardin High School, while the middle school team won the state title for the fourth straight year.
Senior Ahmad Alexander won a state title for the third time, winning the 165-pound class with a total lift of 510 pounds.
Cade Bleidt took second in the 155-pound class with a total lift of 440-pounds. Hopkinsville’s Daniel Foor won the division with a total lift of 525 pounds.
Tayshaun Barker also finished in second place with a total lift 415 pounds.
Austin Mitchell was third in the 195-pound class with 450 total pounds.
Tyler Ware was fifth in the 125-pound class with a total lift of 245 pounds, while Ryan Graff was fifth in the 145-pound class with 415 pounds.
Trigg County’s 31 team points were two behind fifth place Christian County. McLean County totaled 49 points to win their first state powerlifting title. McCracken County and Perry County Central tied for second place with 37 points. Hopkinsville, which had won six straight state titles, finished eighth.
Trigg County had six individual champions and two second place finishers to win the middle school title for the fourth straight year.
Champions were Tyler Ware (115), Kelsie Parnam (125), Bill Over (135), Keeton Harris (145), Trevor Vanlue (155), and Brandon Moser (195). Tyler Jacobs (125) and Andrew Leudenburg (175) both finished in second place.
Ware and Vanue set new state records with their totals, with Vanlue’s 390 pounds combined in the bench and clean worthy of being named the Outstanding Middle School lifter.
