Murray State sophomore Austin Knight is part of a group of 25 players to post sub-par scores in the first round of the FAU Slomin Autism Championship Friday in Boca Raton, Florida.
The former Hopkinsville High golfer carded a 1-under-par 71 to share 18th place at Osprey Point Golf Club.
The Racers had a 293 team score and were in 12th place in the field of 18 teams ahead of Hofstra (297), DePaul (298) and North Dakota State (298) and just behind 11th place Oakland (292) and 10th place Florida Atlantic, the host of this event.
Osprey Point is playing to a length of 6,786 yards and to a par of 72.
The medalist leader after 18 holes was UConn’s Jimmy Hervol who carded an 8-under-par 64. He has a two-shot lead on Hartford’s Ambrose Abbracciamento who shot a 66.
