Lady Wildcats 2-0 After Win at Russellville

Trigg County used a strong pitching performance and was helped by shoddy Russellville fielding to grab an 8-3 road win Tuesday.

Seven Lady Panther errors led to four unearned runs, with three of their seven miscues coming as part of a five-run third inning that broke the game open.

Autumn Durham doubled, and Hannah Colbert tripled as part of Trigg’s five-hit night. Durham had two RBIs, and Trigg also got hits from Kara Southwood, Adri Phillips, and Julia Rhone.

Colbert struck out 13 in the circle, giving her 25 strikeouts in her first two games. She allowed five hits and three earned runs while walking just one. Russellville (2-2) had scored 36 runs in their previous three games before Colbert held them to three Tuesday.

Trigg County is off to a rare 2-0 start for the fast-pitch program. Another rarity is scheduled for Thursday when the Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play Christian County for the first time since fast-pitch was introduced in 1995. An 80-percent chance of rain Wednesday and Thursday may make that contest tough to play.
